  • Traditional aerial photogrammetry is to take aerial photographs on a large scale of a whole city with dedicated HD cameras on large fix-wing manned aircrafts. After photo post-processing, elements of exterior orientation are acquired and then a precise 3D model is generated. After that alarge-scale line drawing is produced by professionals for the application inurban planning, engineering design and land administration. However, to use alarge aerial photographing aircraft is not easy and costly. Besides, cloud ormist in the sky is likely to lead to low-quality photos.

  • To meet the requirements of aerial photogrammetry, md4 series UAV system includes a flight route planning software Waypoint to facilitate the correct planning of flight routes. Since terrain data are referenced, the shooting area of each photo can be precisely predicted during route planning. When in actual flight,the drone will fly exactly according to the planned route, and only take photos when it is hovering at the waypoints, so as to guarantee the quality of aerial photos.

  • In future, topographic surveying of a small area can skip the post-processing, acquisition of elements of exterior orientation through camera calibration and aerotriangulation calculation etc and acquisitionof large-scale line drawing through 3D model, but can be just executed through md4 series UAV system. For example, for an area of 1 square kilometer, it onl ytakes half a day to take photos with md4 series UAV system. And the rest can all be done inside with great efficiency.
